by Daisy the Dog (typing while my paws are still cold)
This morning, I woke up and smelled something new. It was cold, clean, and crisp.
When my human mother opened the door, I saw it — SNOW! The ground was covered in white fluff, and I just had to jump right in.
Soon, my friends showed up. Max ran straight through the snow like a rocket. Bella barked at the snowflakes (she thinks they listen). My mother came outside in her rubber boots and threw snowballs. Max chased every single one — even the ones that vanished! I tried to help, but it was hard to catch snowflakes when they disappeared.
We ran and rolled and laughed — well, my mother laughed, but I think dogs can laugh too. My fur got covered in snow. Everything felt light and crispy.
When we got tired, we huddled together while the snow kept falling. The world was quiet except for our breathing. I leaned against my mother, and she scratched behind my ear. That was my favorite part of a snowy day.
Now I’m back inside, paws thawing, tail still wagging. Winter had begun, and it was wonderful. My mother thought so too.
